My real name is Donna Harrison and I've been
stamping for approximately 12 years. I live in the San
Francisco Bay Area (Danville, to be exact). In
October of 1992 in a small gift shop in Danville, I saw
cards for the first time that had been made using rubber
stamps. They were simple, but elegant, Christmas cards
and I was amazed that the rubber stamps created such
beauty. I asked the salesperson how they were made, she
gave me a quick demo using embossing powder... and the
rest is history.
A couple of hundred dollars later, I left that
store laden with everything I would need to make my very
own Christmas cards. For two and half months I created
over forty different cards using my new treasures and my
kitchen table as my work area. By the time Christmas
rolled around, I didn't want to part with a single card.
No one got a card from us that year!
As my stamping collection grew, so did my need
for a stamp room to call my own. As luck would have it,
my husband got offered a new job from his company that
allowed us to stay in this area for a while longer, so we
decided to move into a home that had a "bonus" room large enough to
accommodate my growing hobby. After a couple of years of
playing with my toys by myself, someone mentioned to me
that there was an entire store dedicated entirely to
stamping supplies in my area. For my husband, that was
the worst day of his life! Not only did this store
(Stamper's Warehouse) have treasures beyond my wildest
dreams, it offered classes and I took them
all.
One of those classes was offered by a lady named
Diana Diaz. Once I took her class, I was spoiled for all
the others. Under her tutelage, I learned everything I
could, and when she said I was ready to teach, she taught
me how to present a superior class. Today, ten years
later, we're best of friends and co-teach larger classes.
Like Diana, I take pride in the organization, skill, and
care I put into each class. For that reason I believe we
stand out above the rest.
For the past ten years, I have taught both at
Stamper's Warehouse here in Danville, as far away as
England, and very close to home in that bonus room that
became my stamp studio/teaching classroom (see photos of
The Royal Room here!). I also
travel to wherever classes are requested. One of the most
fun classes Diana and I like to present are our
"Extravaganzas" and/or "stamp camps".
In addition to teaching, I have made card
samples for various stamp companies and magazines. I have
even written an article that appeared in a worldwide
trade journal, The Rubber Stamper (click here to view
article)!
On a more personal note, I've been married to
Tom (The King) for 23
years, have one daughter, Kristin (The Princess), and two very
furry cats, Tipper and Angel (The Royal
Subjects).
